The following is a little bit more about the property,
the people working here (scroll down to the bottom for pictures!),
& the benefits of staying at Oak Lake Campground
and/or purchasing a Recreational Vehicle from us.

HC Hoffman purchased the property in 1915 for the purpose of hunting.  He lived with his family in Hankinson ND where he ran a large blacksmith shop.  During the depression, he lost his shop and his home.  He packed up his family including his three youngest children and moved to the area.  The Hoffman family stayed at Miller’s Resort founded in 1885, which today is Oak Hill Campground, while Mr. Hoffman built his home at the Oak Lake Campground.  The business is set on 120 acres.  This allows us to have four campground areas positioned around our impressive 5200 ft. of shoreline- about a mile of lakeshore!  The main campground with 128 sites has 1300 ft. of shoreline and includes a clean, safe, sandy beach.  Positioned throughout the park is 1400 ft of boat docking.  This also serves our Riverside campground with 22 sites privately positioned near the main campground.  Our Oak Lake II area is set by itself with only 15 private sites on 50 acres and 1700 ft. of lakeshore.  This acreage also has our hiking/biking/golf cart trails and most of our golf course.  Rounding out the acreage, in 2012 we aquired the existing campground, Oak Hill, which is located across the lake featuring 43 sites that ALL have a view of the lake if not right on the water.  Boats, pontoons, peddle boats, canoes, golf carts are available for rent.  Our large log-built Campground Store/game room has snacks, beverages, pizzas, ice, ice cream, bait, tackle, RV parts, Free WiFi, misc. items, game room, many tables for gatherings and Karaoke nights.  Entrance to the Nemadji State Forest is located 3 miles from the campground offering quite possibly the finest trail system in the state.  Trail uses include ATV, Jeep, Snowmobile, Motorcycle, Horseback, and Hiking.  Car races and Moto-Cross/Enduro bike races are held there as well.  Things to remember when comparing our resort would include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Free Golf Course
  • Free Daily Docking
  • Maintained Hiking/biking/golf cart trails(sorry, no ATV’s)
  • Nemadji State Forest
  • Better deals on your purchases of new campers, golf carts, boats, pontoons, trailers, and lifts.  (Our new RV Sales is located in Moose Lake, MN)
  • Lawn maintenance taken care of throughout the park.
  • LP Gas Available on site
  • Indoor storage available for all of your summer equipment.
  • Winterizing services available

  • Family operation going on five generations
  • Available to you 24 hours/day, 7 days/week During the Season.

And in addition to the above for our seasonal guests:

  • Free storage of your boats and trailers throughout the summer in our designated storage area.
  • Mechanics on duty to quickly offer professional repairs to your equipment.

Private boat slips are available at a seasonal price and occasionally at a weekend rate.  Oak Lake II docking is included in the seasonal price and features the largest sites we are aware of in the state.  Some of our customers even have their own private docks, though no new private docking is allowed.   We are located conveniently to both the Twin City area and Duluth.  Duluth’s city limits are only 27 miles away, and it is the home of Grandma’s Marathon.  As the Head of the Lakes, Canal Park features the aerial lift bridge, ship watching, the Great Lakes Aquarium, and many more attractions.  State parks within 25 miles include Banning, Jay Cook, Pattison Park, Moose Lake, St. Croix, and Nemadji.  Golf courses in the area include Moose Lake, Sandstone, Mahtowa, and Birch Creek.  Restaurants include The Tavern in Duquette, Kerrick Bar, Doc’s Bar & Grill on 23, Banning Junction, Doc’s in Sturgeon Lake, Ernie’s, Peggy Sue’s, Dave’s Diner, Lou’s Diner, Wabegon, Brick Yard, The Lazy Moose, Art’s Café, Subway, DQ, Gamper’s, Embassy, and the Duquette Store.  The Duquette Store, only 2 miles away, also has groceries, sporting goods, fresh meat counter, produce, and is an all-around treasure.  Our Service Department in Moose Lake can handle all types of repairs from water damage, to electrical issues, appliances, to complete rebuild or personalizing of your camper.  Our service is mobile, so if our campground is full seasonally and you end up in the general area we can provide RV Service.  We regularly perform service at Timberline, Edelweiss, Bremen Woods, Red Fox, Sun Bay, and Country Side Acres campgrounds to name a few.  We do setups with a camper purchase at these locations as well.

Our staff is hard-working and good natured.

The following people have been key contributors in the past,

and continue to be part of our excellent team!

Henry   Henry
He was born on the property and has been running the business since 1969. Henry and Norma have lived on site since that time as an unbeatable husband & wife team. Built basically from scratch, the business has evolved constantly since that time to what it is today. Those that have seen the entire journey recognize Henry’s visionary-type skills and moxie to execute with much personal sacrifice. We expect that he will continue to outwork men half his age for the foreseeable future.

Norma   Norma
She has also worked every aspect of the business. Her credentials-both past and present- include: lawn care, receptionist, store manager/clerk, restroom maintenance, titles, and has probably forgotten more aspects of running your own business than most people have ever taken part in. Norma has been a mainstay since 1969.

Alan   Alan
He is probably best described as the office manager for the RV sales. Duties include receptionist, finance manager, bookkeeper, night-watchman, answer-man to your questions/concerns, and generally regarded as 2nd man in charge. Alan grew up on the property since he was a one-year old and has been involved in every aspect of the business. In charge of campground maintenance from 1992- 2005, he has become a jack-of-all trades able to handle most issues that arise. He built many of the aluminum docks used today and installed most of the sewer lines when he was a certified sewer installer. Alan is also heavily involved in RV sales and lives on site with his family

Diane   Diane
She is our Campground Manager. Diane has been involved in the business since she was born into it. She held Alan’s current position until her son Ray was born. Diane worked at a car dealership in Cloquet, MN in the same capacity, and brought many of the office practices with her that we still use today. Diane specializes in Webmaster, customer billing, titles, and many aspects of our business. Diane lives in Kerrick with her family.

   Dan
Rounds out the Hoffman Family as our Parts Manager at our NEW Oak Lake RV Sales & Service Facility in Moose Lake.  Along with Diane, Dan was born into the business as well.  Throughout the years he has taken care of Campground Maintenance.  Dan has 19 years in as a Certified Crane Operator (heavy equipment in the local union #49).  He and his family live on site of our Oak Lake Campground.

Bill   Bill
He is our Service Manager and is also involved with Sales.  His team is precise and consistent and if it can be fixed safely, they will be able to fix it. Bill is a Certified Master RVIA Technician, as well as ASE Master Certified with plenty of other Certifications to his credit in the auto and RV field.  Bill was raised here in Kerrick and built his own log home where he resides with his family. He has been with us since leaving his Shop Manager position with Saturn of St. Paul in 1998.

Tim   Tim
He has been a part of our team since 2007 when he left a Chevrolet dealership.  He quickly became efficient in RV repairs, which requires aptitude as a jack-of-all trades problem solver.  He is very thorough & makes sure everything is done properly.  Tim is a master RVIA & ASE Certified Technician, with several Chevrolet and RV certifications to his credit. He is our Shop Supervisor at Oak Lake RV Sales & Service in Moose Lake.  Tim lives locally in Kerrick.

Clara   Clara
She has been with us part time since the beginning of 2012. Her duties include special projects, advertising, sales and Webmaster – managing the campground website, Craig’s List, PR and Facebook Social Media.  She works primarily off-premise, but is a huge part of our team.

We feel that we offer a unique setting here

quite possibly without peers and we’re sure you will agree!
